Another chapter could be coming to the Dylan Larkin saga in Detroit.
After making the decision on Thursday to sit out until the Red Wings fulfill his trade request, Larkin might adjust the list of teams that he is willing to waive his no-movement clause for.
"He has a 10-team trade list that he's willing to go to," Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman said on the latest Saturday Headlines segment. "I think over the next 24-to-48 hours, it's possible we see that trade list altered."
Helene St. James of The Detroit Free Press reported on Oct. 20 that Larkin's trade list includes the Florida Panthers, Minnesota Wild, Vegas Golden Knights, Dallas Stars, Washington Capitals, Carolina Hurricanes, Utah Mammoth, Tampa Bay Lightning, New Jersey Devils and Colorado Avalanche.
When Larkin initially requested a trade out of the Motor City, it was reported that he was only open to a move to the Panthers, Wild and Golden Knights.
But now that Larkin has opted out of playing with the Red Wings after scoring two goals and six points over 10 games, the club's former captain appears ready to find a spot outside some of the premier American NHL destinations.
"Some teams like Florida and Vegas, even Colorado, it's very hard to see (a trade) happening, if not impossible," Friedman said Saturday. "So, I do think it's possible that Larkin may take some teams off, or possibly even add some teams on."
Larkin was suspended without pay and taken off the roster by Detroit after the 30-year-old centre informed the team he would no longer play for the franchise.
Red Wings interim general manager Shawn Horcoff said Thursday his goal is to acquire players that can help right away, adding he's open to deals for prospects and draft picks that give the franchise a fair return for someone of Larkin's calibre.
